The historical Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama, taught a holistic path of recovery that is aimed at uprooting the habits of obsession and avoidance that are central to all forms of addictions. The Buddha discovered that, through community support & accountability, service work, daily personal inventory, and meditation, we can start to look more closely at our reactive habits and destructive behaviors and begin to plant the seeds of awakening and wellbeing in our lives. Even if we’ve been in recovery for a while, we find that there is still a need to continue the hard work of honest self-reflection, compassion & gratitude, in order to expand our practice to meet the suffering of others seeking refuge from addictions of all forms.
During this day of practice, we will explore the core skills and methods of mindfulness and heart practice meditation through guided instruction, as well as periods of interactive self-reflection and group discussion. This is a great opportunity to explore the tenets of Buddhist practice within the supportive atmosphere of community.
This workshop is open to everyone interested: no requirement & no experience necessary.
